The history of the "Russian Ballet", real and fantastic in drawings, memoirs and photographs from the archive of Mikhail Larionov. Gift book bound in leather.

The History of the Russian Ballet is the third edition of the First Publication series, launched by the Interros Publishing Program in 2007. To participate in the competition of the same name, the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow) has put forward a project to publish an archive - part of a large gift consisting of the pictorial, graphic and documentary heritage of the Russian artist Mikhail Larionov. The archive was received by the GTG under the will of his widow Alexandra Klavdievna Tomilina in 1989 and until recently, with rare exceptions, was hidden in the vaults of the Gallery.

Readers are invited to a book created on the basis of numerous archival photographs, manuscripts, drawings, sketches of costumes and scenery for Mikhail Larionov's performances, a book telling about his activities and connections with the Russian ballet abroad. It published most of the artist's handwritten legacy concerning the book he planned about the "Russian Ballets", including its author's layout.

The book is accompanied by a number of indexes and chronicles, some of the data for which we found and published for the first time. Thus, in the nominal index for all personalities, their participation in Sergei Diaghilev's entreprise and the troupes that inherited its tradition is systematically traced. Russian Russian Ballet has also prepared for the first time in Russian for the "First Publication" a complete "Chronicle of the Premieres of the Diaghilev Russian Ballet" with an indication of the first performers. Many of the missing information has been established thanks to the kind help of domestic and foreign specialists in the history of ballet.
