Volume 1
From ancient times to 1904
The first volume is a revised and expanded reissue of the book by V. M. Tikhonov, “the History of Korea from ancient times to 1876” (2003), the contents of which are now brought up to 1904, and supplemented by chronological tables, maps and index of names. The second volume devoted to the twentieth century. Its peculiarity is that its final part is a translation of the famous book, South Korean historian, Kang Mangila “a New look at the modern history of Korea” (Coche sin Hanguk of handasa), which covers the history of South Korea during the period from 1945 to 1992.

The twentieth century
The second volume of textbooks on Korean history dedicated to the twentieth century. It V. M. Tikhonov completes the description of the epoch of New Time. Considering the period from the Russo-Japanese war of 1904-1905 until the liberation of Korea in 1945, it focuses on social and ideological phenomena and their relationship with the dynamics of class and social interests. The era 1945-1992. on the South of the Korean Peninsula is presented through the vision of the Patriarch of the Marxist historiography of South Korea Kang Mangila. Chapters from it having a wide recognition of the book “a New look at the modern history of Korea” published in Russian for the first time. Written from a critical standpoint, this book does not divide historical figures into “heroes” and “villains” and seeks to identify the activities of each social conditioning and internal contradictions.
