The First Epoch through annals, early maps and versions of the Silmarillion
This volume of the annals of the history of Middle-Earth includes various variations on the events of the First Epoch: the early Annals of Valinor, the Annals of Beleriand, the first version of the Silmarillion with early maps of Middle-Earth, various prose fragments following the "Lost Tales".
Thanks to this book, you can trace the evolution of Middle-earth and the course of the Professor's thoughts. It should be noted what a titanic work Tolkien's son, Christopher, performed, sorting drafts and old maps.
