Pyotr Struve – The Economic History of Russia. A gift book in a leather binding.

The book “The Economic History of Russia” is a monumental work by the outstanding Russian thinker, economist, and philosopher Pyotr Berngardovich Struve. The author, who went through a difficult path from being one of the first Marxists to becoming a consistent liberal conservative, subjects the country’s economic development to a profound re‑examination. The book’s pages provide a detailed exploration of the centuries‑old interconnection between the growth of Russian statehood, the development of culture, and the evolution of social relations. Struve appears here as a shrewd analyst who personally shed Marxist dogmas and exposed the theoretical shortcomings of the materialist doctrine.
The economist pays particular attention to the criticism of the traditional land community and consistently defends the ideas of entrepreneurial freedom. He convincingly argues that a strong national state cannot be built without the formation of an independent class of property owners and a strong spiritual foundation. The text of the collection also includes the most important lecture courses and articles on the history of Russia’s foreign trade and customs policy, starting from the second half of the 17th century. The gift edition from “Eksmo” in the famous “Russian Imperial Library” series is distinguished by its magnificent printing design and an abundance of rare archival illustrations. This book is an invaluable source for anyone who wishes to understand the historical roots of Russian economic reforms and the specifics of Russian thought.
