Vittorio Zgarbi was born in Ferrara, Italy in 1952. He is not only a famous art historian and writer, but also a curator of exhibitions both in Italy and abroad. In 2011, he organized the Italian pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Author of many books and articles on art.

In Italy, Vittorio Zgarbi is well known as a politician. For several years he was the mayor of the Sicilian city of Salemi and developed the sensational project "House for 1 euro", implemented with the famous photographer Oliver Toscani. The purpose of this project was not charity, but an attempt to preserve the historical quarter of the city: after buying a house for 1 euro, the owner had to do its restoration. The idea was picked up by cities of various countries.
