"The secret letters of great men" — a collection of correspondence that was not intended for outside reading. However, due to the collisions of fate, and sometimes by intent or negligence, some of the Epistles came to the modern reader. This is a very curious illustration of the courtly manners of the XVIII-XIX centuries, like a new life filled with the shadows of the past, and the shadows fall on the monuments, and monuments come to life.
