Seized with a thirst for new discoveries, the professor, without wasting time, sets off on a journey, taking with him a desperately resisting nephew. An incredible prehistoric world awaits the heroes underground - hot rivers flow here and the ocean rages, a giant mushroom forest grows and mastodons graze. The brave members of the expedition will have to survive a terrible underground storm - but only to find themselves in the mouth of an unknown active volcano…
