The collection of Alexander Ivanovich Kuprin was composed by some of his most famous works: the novellas "Moloch", "Duel", "Olesya", "Garnet Bracelet" and the story "Emerald". Their plots are closely connected with the life of the author himself. For four years Kuprin served in the 46th Dnieper Infantry Regiment, which provided rich material for many of his works, including the story "Duel". He retired with the rank of lieutenant and, in search of his vocation, changed many professions and places of residence, visited Polesie, from where he brought the idea of the story "Olesya". Love for horses has found its place in the story "Emerald"; impressions from working at one of the largest steel and rail rolling plants in the Donetsk basin are described in the story "Moloch"; a real life story formed the basis of the story "Garnet Bracelet".
Artist Anatoly Itkin is an outstanding master of accurate drawing, his watercolors, outwardly light and airy, briefly and uncompromisingly convey the essence of each of the stories.
