Denis Vasilievich Davidov — Russian poet, the most brilliant representative of the "hussar poetry" memoirs, Lieutenant-General. One of the commanders of the partisan movement during the Patriotic war of 1812.
Davydov was associated with many of the Decembrists, who valued his poems, but the offer to join the secret society refused. In the history of Russian literature entered as the Creator of the genre "hussar lyrics", the character of which the lover of loose life, however, people open-minded, opponent of violence against the person ("a hussar's feast," "Song of an old hussar", "Junior soldiers", "Borodino field". The last poem, written in 1829, is considered to be one of the best historical elegies Russian romantic poetry).
