Faith, conscience and redemption through suffering in a tragedy of the soul
Enlarged format!
Crime and Punishment is one of the" cornerstones "of Russian and world literature, included in all school and university programs, Dostoevsky's repeatedly filmed novel Crime and Punishment poses the most important moral and ideological questions to the reader-about faith, conscience, sin and about redemption through suffering. The refutation of the criminal "idea-passion", the "ugly dream" that took possession of Rodion Raskolnikov's mind in the most "deliberate" and "fantastic" city in the world, is the main content of this most complex book, which combines several different genres. Conceived as a "psychological report of a crime", Dostoevsky's novel appeared before the reader as a grandiose artistic and philosophical study of human nature, a Christian tragedy about the death and resurrection of the soul.
