Sergey Donatovich Dovlatov is a talented writer and a well-known Soviet journalist. S. Dovlatov's books - "Zone", "Suitcase", "Reserve", "Stories" - are included in the list of 100 books recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia for independent reading by schoolchildren.
For a quarter of a century, Dovlatov has been one of the most widely read, frequently and widely published Russian writers. Along with Joseph Brodsky and Alexander Solzhenitsyn, he is one of the three most famous Russian-speaking authors in the West in the second half of the 20th century.

Volume 1.
The first volume of the Collected Works of Sergei Dovlatov (1941-1990), a famous novelist who lived in Leningrad until 1978 and in New York since 1979, includes his early prose, including stories from the collection "Demarche of Enthusiasts" and "Two Sentimental Stories" ("A Donkey must be Thin", "Another life"). The volume concludes with stories from emigrant life and the book Compromise, about everyday journalistic life.
Volume 2.
The second volume of Sergei Dovlatov's Collected Works consists of four books: "Zone" ("Notes of the overseer") — a series of episodes from camp life in the Komi ASSR; "Reserve" — a story about the stay of a distressed writer in the Pushkin Reserve; "Ours" — stories from the history of the Dovlatov family; "March of the lonely" — a collection of articles about emigration from the weekly New American (New York), of which Dovlatov was the editor-in-chief in 1980-1982.
Volume 3.
The third volume of Sergei Dovlatov's Collected Works includes: the book "Craft" (part one — "The Invisible Book", part two — "The Invisible Newspaper") — the story of two attempts to publish a book in his homeland and create an emigrant newspaper in the USA; the novella "The Foreigner" — the story of a Russian woman in New York; the collection "Suitcase" — stories from Leningrad life; "Refrigerator" — an unfinished book of short stories, like "Suitcase"; "From stories about last summer" — three stories about writing life in America, written in the summer of 1988.
Volume 4.
The fourth volume of Sergei Dovlatov's Collected Works includes: the story "Branch" ("Notes of the presenter") — the story of a writer who became an employee of Western radio; "Notebooks" ("Solo on Underwood" and "Solo on IBM") — funny micro-novels from the lives of characters known to Dovlatov; "On literary topics" — reviews, articles about literature written in exile; "Speeches. Interview" — lectures given in the USA, interviews from the American magazine "Word — Word" and from Ogonyok.
