The Second World War through facts, analysis and restored passages
Fritz Erich Georg Eduard von Manstein was a German field marshal, a participant in the First and Second World Wars. Nephew of Field Marshal Hindenburg. He had a reputation as the most gifted strategist in the Wehrmacht and was an informal leader of the German generals.
The memoirs of Erich von Manstein are one of the most important works published in Germany on the history of the Second World War, and their author is perhaps the most famous of Hitler's military leaders.
The Field Marshal's memoirs are written in vivid, imaginative language and contain not only a list of facts, but also an analysis of events explaining the meaning of what is happening.
The text of this edition has been supplemented and corrected, provided with comments and appendices. In addition, the book includes fragments omitted in previous publications.
