Edgar rice Burroughs — American writer "era, junk journals"; best known for his series of books about Tarzan and John Carter. Had a significant impact on the development of the genres of science fiction and fantasy in the twentieth century.

Tarzan — the son of a British Lord, thrown together with the wife on the West coast of Africa. Parents died (were murdered by the apes), when the boy was very young, and he grew up among the apes, which gave him the name of Tarzan ("pale skin"). Mother was a monkey named Kala. Real name Tarzan — John Clayton (eng. John Clayton), Lord Greystoke. When Tarzan grew, he met a girl named Jane porter. Jane, her father and other men were similarly left on the coast of Africa, like the parents of Tarzan twenty years ago. Tarzan falls in love with Jane and follows her when she leaves the jungle and returns to the United States. In later books, Tarzan and Jane marry and for some time live together in England. They have a son Jack. Later Tarzan and Jane return to Africa. Tarzan, as portrayed burrows, is a typical example of a hero, not tormented by doubts or remorse. He is white-skinned, but tanned, tall, athletic, handsome man with gray eyes. Tarzan is a very moral man, he is devoted to his wife, in many situations takes the weakest side, with friends behaved, but nobly and generously.
Also included is the cycle of novels "Lord of Mars": the American officer in escaping from the Indians in the mountains of the Wild West, the incredible way it appears on Mars. This planet is inhabited, and inhabited by various humanoid creatures, most of which are hostile to man. Many adventures are now expecting the main character, and priodolet them will not be easy.
