The Émigré Novel and Texts Never Included in the Collected Works
"Walking through Torments" is a novel by Alexei Tolstoy, written in France in 1919-1920.
He was one of the first artistic experiments in Russian literature with a retrospective look at the crisis period of Russian history that had not yet ended. It was written in exile and filled with assessments, which were the result of a difficult path traversed by the writer.
The text of the novel has never been published in the USSR, but this edition includes twelve articles and short stories by the writer, published in periodicals in Moscow, Odessa, Kharkov, Paris and New York and never included in the Collected Works of A.N. Tolstoy.
