"What should I do?" - this is a work of Russian literature of the XIX century, which has become a symbol of its time. First published in 1862, it was banned by censorship, but nevertheless known to every Russian reader.

This book caused a lot of controversy and discussion at the time. It was translated into 9 languages during the author's lifetime.

According to the memoirs of contemporaries, there was no student or even a high school student who did not read "What to do?". In the Soviet era, Chernyshevsky took pride of place on the literary Olympus, and his main work was included in the compulsory school curriculum. But today the appeal to the novel is "What to do?"
