Village eccentrics searching for meaning, truth, and a changed life
"Viburnum red"
Shukshin's heroes - villagers, provincials, simple hard workers - are not so simple as it may seem at first glance. Sometimes they do ridiculous, inexplicable things. Unexpectedly, they will lie or destroy their own plans and their own well-being at once. They will start inventing a perpetual motion machine; they will spend all their savings on a microscope; they will devote the whole day to a bath or with a gun in their hands they will start beating off someone else's beautiful lady ... Stupidity? Recklessness? Hooliganism? Weirdness? All this is nothing but a search for meaning in what is happening, a search for truth and justice, an attempt to break through to the very essence hidden behind everyday life and everyday life.
The hero of the film story "Kalina Krasnaya" is also trying to change his life and make it meaningful, listening to the movements of the soul and trying to follow them.
