"On the Ussuri Region" is the first and one of the most famous literary works of Vladimir Arsenyev, describing his travels in 1902 and 1906 through the mountainous regions of Sikhote-Alin. In the book, the reader will find sketches of the nature of the Ussuri region and the life of the people inhabiting it: Russian Chinese, Koreans, Udege, etc. A special place is occupied by the story of the writer's acquaintance and relationship with the conductor Gold (Nanai) Dersu Uzala, who became his friend.

The novel "Dersu Uzala" by V. K. Arsenyev (1872-1930), a researcher of the Far East, tells about an expedition to the Ussuri Region undertaken by the scientist in 1907. The book is dedicated to the guide of this expedition, Gold Ders Uzala, who taught the members of the detachment to live in the taiga and saved them from dangers.

The novel will introduce the reader to the nature of the Ussuri region and the peoples inhabiting it, their way of life, rituals and legends. Arsenyev truthfully and fascinatingly tells about life in the taiga, where every wrong step threatens the hunter with death, where animals are killed not for entertainment or for trophies, but for food, where people help each other survive without asking for anything in return.
