Salvator Fabrice — Fencing or the science of weapons. A leather-bound gift book.

The treatise "Fencing or the Science of Weapons".
In his treatise Fencing or the Science of Weapons (1606), Fabrice describes working with a sword, a sword and a dagger, a sword and a cloak, as well as with his bare hands against a man armed with a dagger. The treatise also includes Book II, which describes ways to defeat the enemy without stopping on the defensive. It has become unique among the surviving treatises on fencing from the 17th century. The treatise also enjoyed great reverence and respect among the indefatigable duelists at the courts of Charles IX and Henry III.

The treatise has been republished many times and translated into several languages — it was the reference book of many famous fencing masters. This treatise is also valuable for its detailed illustrations of technical elements, it contains 191 engravings.

In his work, Fabrice described working with only one sword, a sword and a dagger, a sword and a kappa, and bare-handed wrestling, also with bare hands against an opponent with a dagger. In the second part of the book, Fabrice focused on ways to defeat an opponent without stopping in battle, which was unique to 17th-century fencing sources.
