The history of Germany. The history of Switzerland. Gift book bound in leather

From Germanic tribes to World War II and from Swiss independence to neutrality

History of Germany

This book tells about the main stages of the formation of the German state: from the Germanic tribes that appeared on the territory of the Roman Empire in the first centuries of our era to the results of the Second World War unleashed by the Hitler regime…

History of Switzerland

The book allows you to get a clear idea about the main stages of the history of this small Alpine country, and about the unique features of its state, political, and confessional structure.

One of the oldest democracies in the world, the Swiss Confederation defended its independence and its unique position in Europe during the Middle Ages and maintained its neutrality during the World Wars of the XX century. Its history teaches the ability to combine the interests of different regions, cantons, communities (there are four official languages in Switzerland) in order to preserve the unity of the country. The book shows how the integration processes taking place in Europe affect the traditional Swiss identity.
