Alexander Prince — Ukrainian writer, author of the novel "Golgotha". Born in the city of Cherkassy in the family working. In the years of the civil war started to publish satirical articles, short stories, journalism and poetry. In 1924 he became a member of the Union of writers. Literary pseudonym — Les gamin.

Roman Calvary written on the basis of reliable facts, taken from life of the Moldavian monasteries in the period between the revolution of 1905 and the great October socialist revolution. The Central figure of the novel is a rascal and a swindler Ivan Levison (in monasticism monk Innokenty), native village Cosauti.
The author excitedly describes the monstrous crimes committed by this rogue with the permission and direct participation of the higher spiritual and secular authorities, preying on the deception of the poor peasantry.
