Manet's life through his letters and the memoirs of contemporaries
Edouard Manet went down in the history of art as a subtle and intelligent painter, a brilliant colorist and a deep psychologist, who with extraordinary acuteness revealed poetic shades, hidden dreams and dramatic collisions of the simplest, most inconspicuous people, as a man of pure soul and great humanism, who always knew how to find genuine beauty in reality and at the same time constantly felt that the triumphant bourgeois society of his day puts obstacles to the free manifestation of the best human aspirations, distorts and disfigures the life of the little man to whom Manet gave his the heart.
The book "Life" introduces the reader to the vicissitudes of the life of one of the most beautiful painters of the XIX century - Edouard Manet. And to do this, if possible, with the help of the artist's own statements and letters, the memoirs of his friends and contemporaries, criticism of detractors.
